Maryland's corporate income tax has held steady at 7% for years. There are no taxes on unitary profits, gross receipts or corporate franchises. A recent study found that the tax burden on business as a percentage of total tax revenue is lower in Maryland than in any other state.

The property tax is the second lowest in Maryland and there are no separate school taxes. Residents pay a graduated state personal income tax of 2 to 5%, plus a 30% county piggyback tax, the lowest of any jurisdiction in Maryland.
