Your employer is sending you to a distant city to build up your company’s client base there, and you’re ready to hit the ground running. But in the back of your mind, you feel a little uneasy about traveling for several weeks at a time in the middle of pandemic. How can you be sure that you’ll stay healthy while away from home? Brian Ferdinand, the managing partner of CorpHousing Group, explains in a recently published article how business travelers can safeguard their health while embracing the open skies or the open road.
Air Travel
According to Brian Ferdinand in the article, many seasoned corporate travelers possess some type of elite status with airlines. This is an excellent perk during the current COVID-19 pandemic, as it may allow them to take part in expedited airport security programs. Through these programs, they can move through Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, checkpoints more quickly than other types of travelers typically can.
The benefit of being able to zip through your airline’s TSA checkpoints is that you can drastically decrease your interactions with fellow travelers. So, if you aren’t currently participating in any accelerated security programs, this may be a worthwhile option for you during the current pandemic.
Accommodation
When it comes to your choice of accommodation as a business traveler, it may behoove you to choose corporate housing to further protect yourself against the novel coronavirus. With this type of accommodation, which is essentially a first-class-level furnished apartment, you don’t have to worry about the throngs of people you may encounter in the hotel setting.
As a general rule of thumb, corporate housing units are excellent for work trips that you have to make often for short stints—for example, a few weeks or a handful of months. With this type of unit, you can easily feel as though you are staying in a second house, as these units come with bedrooms that are fully furnished, bathrooms, and full-sized kitchens. You may also easily access internet service and even laundry rooms.
Another major plus of choosing a corporate housing unit is that if your trip ends up going longer than anticipated, you can easily stay in your unit an extra night due to its affordability. Extended-stay hotels, on the other hand, tend to be pricier, which may unfortunately pressure traveling professionals to rush through they work that they were sent to complete.
All in all, with both an elite-level airline status and elite corporate housing, you can put yourself in the best position to feel your best and thus do your best in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
